My Florida Story

Florida has been part of my family's life since 1998, when we began traveling south to visit my in-laws in Bradenton and the Tampa and St. Petersburg area. But the moment Southwest Florida truly became ours came in 2010.

Our family had outgrown the Disney vacation. We had tried December trips to Captiva and Sanibel, and as lovely as they were, the air still carried a chill. What we were searching for was the feeling of a trip to Maui we had never forgotten: white sand, warm water, and true tropical ease. We wanted it within reach, a direct flight from home, just a few hours from the snow, and close to our extended family on the Gulf Coast.

On a whim, I said, "Let's try the JW Marriott on Marco Island."

From the moment we arrived, we were in love.

For the next ten years, every Christmas and every Easter centered on Marco Island and Naples. Those holidays became the rhythm of our family life, and somewhere along the way, I knew this place would one day be home.

At the same time, more and more of our Wisconsin clients were discovering Naples too. They called asking us to help them find a winter home, sell a vacation property, or navigate a market they didn't know. Like water finding its course, the requests kept coming, and the path forward revealed itself naturally.

In 2022, I bought my first Florida home in Fiddler's Creek. Going through that purchase as a buyer myself, I saw firsthand how much families coming from out of state need an advocate they can trust. That experience shaped everything that came next.

In 2025, after careful planning, Powers Realty Group, Inc. opened our Naples office at 780 Fifth Avenue South. We brought with us the same standard of service that made us Milwaukee's Luxury Leader and Wisconsin's #1 Boutique Broker™, along with a deep personal love for this coast. With more than half a dozen sales already closed, we have set our sights on 30 properties for the 2026/2027 selling season.

But the moments that mean the most to me aren't measured in sales.

This year, we welcomed Hunter Keating, the son of my dear friend and our Vice President, Gretchen Keating, into our firm. Taking Hunter under our wing and watching him grow with both our Florida and Wisconsin teams has been one of the great joys of this chapter. And now Gretchen is closing on her own Naples home. To walk alongside the people I love as they put down roots here is exactly why I do this work.

In many ways, the ending of this story is really my beginning in Florida.

I have spent more than two decades building something in Wisconsin that I am deeply proud of: a firm rooted in trust, a team that feels like family, and a network of clients who have become lifelong friends. My dream is to build that same foundation here in Naples, one relationship and one home at a time.

I have always been the dreamer and the planner. The dreamer fell in love with this coast on a whim fifteen years ago. The planner has spent every year since preparing for this moment. Both of them are ready.
